Diploma of Business

Course Outline

This qualification would apply to individuals with various job titles including executive officers, program consultants and program coordinators.

Individuals in these roles may possess substantial experience in a range of settings but seek to further develop their skills across a wide range of business functions.

Conversely, it may also apply to those with little or no vocational experience, but who possess sound theoretical business skills and knowledge that they would like to develop in order to create further educational and employment opportunities.

Course Entry & Visa Requirement:

All international students must be 18 years of age at the time of commencement.

English Language Requirement

ILETS 5.5 (Academic or general) or equivalent internationally recongnised test result in line with DIBP regulation. or

Completed secondary studies equivalent to an Australian Year 12 qualification from Level 1 countries as identified by DIBP OR

Evidence that within two years of their application date, they have successfully completed Certificate IV or higher-level qualification from the Australian Qualifications Framework

Academic Requirement:

Academic Requirements- Students must have satisfactorily completed a minimum of year 12 or equivalent.

LLN:

Innovative Institute of Australia will also administer Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Evaluation test to all students to ensure that they have the ability to complete the course. This test will occur prior to the course commencement and will be assessed by authorised Innovative Institute of Australia’s delegate.

Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC)

All international students must have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the entire duration of their stay in Australia.

Educational Pathways

On completion of this qualification, students may may undertake qualifications at Advanced Diploma level or above in Business training package.

Employment Pathways

Participants completing BSB50215 Diploma of Business may enter into or continue current roles including:
Business Development Manager, Executive Officer, Operation Manager, Team Leader.

Duration

This course will be delivered over 58 weeks consisting of 52 weeks of face-to-face study and 6 weeks term break. 20 contact hours per week.

RPL / Credit Transfer

Students with prior learning and work experience can apply for RPL. Students who have completed corresponding units of competency and/or units contained within the packaging rules can apply for Credit Transfer. RPL evidence must include some of the following:

Tuition fees and other compulsory costs (material fees etc.) may change from year to year. However students continuing in their current qualification will not incur any fee increases

Assessment Method

Assessment is structured throughout the course. If students are unable to achieve competency, additional support is provided through mentoring and access to re-assessment as outline in our policies and procedures.

Course Structure

Participants need to complete eight (8) units of competency, within the BSB Package at Diploma Level. This qualification has no core units.

8 elective units, of which:

6 units must be selected from the units listed in the training package, with no more than 3 units selected from any one group.

2 elective units may be selected from the units listed in Groups, from the BSB Business services Training Package or from any current accredited course at the same qualification level or Certificate IV or Advanced Diploma level.

Elective units must be relevant to the work outcome, local industry requirements and the qualification level.

Volume of Learning

The volume of learning allocated to a qualification will vary depending on the level of the qualification and the experience and competency of the student. As per the Australian Quality Framework, students must complete the allocated hours for the qualification they are undertaking in order to achieve competency. If the student applies for Recognition of Prior Learning or Credit Transfer, the volume of learning may be reduced. The hours that make up the volume of learning BSB50215 –Diploma of Business are:

Unique Student Identifier

Students are required to obtain a Unique Student Identifier (USI) prior to commencing their course. The USI provides students with the ability to obtain a complete record of their Vocational Education and Training records from a single online source. Innovative Institute of Australia will not issue a Certificate or Statement of Attainment to a student who does not have a USI unless they fall under the USI exemptions. You can obtain a USI from www.usi.gov.au or Innovative Institute of Australia can obtain it on your behalf once you complete and Application for USI which will be provided to you with your enrolment form. If you are an offshore international student studying outside of Australia then you are exempt from having a Unique Student Identifier:

Important Information – Student Handbook, Policies and Procedures, Fees and Charges

Student needs are declared by the applicant at the time of enrolment: the application form allows the applicant to self-declare where they have learning disabilities.

Every student is interviewed either face-to-face or over the telephone to attempt to establish the applicant skill and knowledge levels, their current employment and how that relates to the course content and interaction.

Innovative Institute of Australia has a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment they may undertake to confirm their level of language, literacy and numeracy skills.

Reasonable adjustments to training and assessment will be made and additional support (e.g. LLN, assistive technology, additional training, alternative delivery and assessment modes and methods) provided where students with physical attributes or specific learning needs are identified as requiring these changes to complete their training and assessment.
